This week, we welcomed three new students as part of The Air League Scholarship work placement programme. At the start of the placement, we asked them what inspired them to apply and what they were most looking forward to learning during their time with us.
The Air League is the UK’s leading aviation, aerospace, and space charity. The organisation aims to inspire, enable, and support the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals from all backgrounds. By bridging the gap between education and industry, the Air League impacts communities across the United Kingdom.
Here’s what our current placement students had to say:
Noah
“I first learnt about the programme last year when I was awarded an Air League flying scholarship. At the time I was too young to apply but was determined to give it a shot this year. I applied as I knew the placement would develop my knowledge of civilian aviation companies and practical skills, which will be vital during my aerospace engineering degree at Loughborough University. I’m most looking forward to seeing the Texans and getting my hands dirty working on the aircraft.”

“I wanted some hands-on experience with aircraft, so I applied for the engineering scholarship with the Air League. I felt this would give me an introduction into the practical side of engineering compared to the office side, as I’m someone who’s more interested in the hands-on stuff. I’m looking forward to getting my hands dirty and learning what it’s like to work as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, as well as discovering more about the various aircraft the RAF uses to train future fighter pilots.”

“I’m most excited to learn about the weather and the correct air traffic activity. I was inspired by the Air League because they provide a crucial role in UK MFTS. If only we can provide enough future pilots, they can be trained.”
