As part of Armed Forces Week, we’re taking the opportunity to reflect on the role we play in supporting the Armed Forces.
Across our sites, our teams work alongside military partners and the wider defence community to help deliver the environments and services that underpin military flying training. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it is a vital part of ensuring high-quality training can take place safely and effectively.
Armed Forces Week is an opportunity to recognise the contribution of serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families, while also highlighting the value they bring to organisations and communities.
Working in partnership
Our work is built on strong partnerships.
We work closely with military partners and other organisations across the defence sector, forming part of a wider team that delivers training across multiple locations. This collaboration is key to maintaining consistency, safety and quality across all areas of the training environment.
Supporting the Armed Forces community
As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, we are committed to supporting the wider Armed Forces community, including those transitioning from military service into civilian careers.
Across our sites, veterans are part of our workforce, bringing valuable experience from their time in service into the roles they carry out today. Many have worked in demanding environments and now apply that experience in their day-to-day work.
Their understanding of the military environment also helps shape how we work with our military partners. Having that first-hand experience within our teams supports a practical, joined-up approach across the wider training environment.
We also support the Armed Forces community beyond our day-to-day work, working with organisations such as the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA), the RAF Benevolent Fund and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. These organisations provide important support to serving personnel, veterans and their families, and we are pleased to contribute where we can.
We recognise that moving into a civilian role can be a significant change, and we aim to provide a working environment where veterans feel able to settle in and continue developing their careers.
This year, we were proud to receive the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award, recognising the steps we’ve taken to support the Armed Forces community and our ongoing commitment in this area.
