The Grob Prefect T1 plays a key role within the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS), providing a modern aircraft platform designed for reliability, performance and consistency across the wider fleet.
Known as “The Prefect”, the Grob 120TP is a next-generation turboprop aircraft, developed using advanced composite materials and a fully digital cockpit to reflect the demands of today’s aviation environment.
A Modern Aircraft Built for Performance
At the core of the Prefect is a Rolls-Royce M250-B17F turboprop engine, delivering up to 456 shaft horsepower. Combined with a five-bladed, constant-speed variable pitch propeller, this configuration provides a strong power-to-weight ratio and responsive handling across a range of operating conditions.
With a top speed of around 230 knots, the aircraft delivers efficient performance while maintaining the stability expected from a modern platform.
Engineered for Strength and Durability
The Prefect’s all-composite, corrosion-resistant airframe is designed to support long-term durability while helping to reduce maintenance requirements. This supports consistent day-to-day operation across the fleet.
Certified to +6/-4 g manoeuvres, the aircraft is capable of operating across a broad flight envelope. This allows it to support a range of flying profiles while maintaining control and stability, even in more dynamic conditions.
A Fully Digital Cockpit Environment
The Grob Prefect T1 is equipped with a Genesys Aerosystems IDU-680 EFIS digital cockpit, offering flexible display configurations and a modern avionics interface.
This digital environment reflects the wider move towards more advanced, technology-driven aircraft systems, while supporting consistency in how aircraft across the fleet are operated.
