A Modern Training Aircraft
The Beechcraft T-6C Texan is a tandem-seat, single-engine turboprop aircraft built for advanced aviation training. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68 engine producing 1,100 shaft horsepower, the aircraft is capable of reaching speeds of up to 316 knots and operating at altitudes of 31,000 feet.
Designed to deliver both performance and reliability, the Texan has become one of the most recognised training aircraft in service today. Its combination of proven engineering and modern capability has made it a trusted platform around the world.
Preparing the Next Generation of Military Pilots
The Texan T1 plays a key role in military flying training. Operating from RAF Valley, it provides the bridge between elementary flying training and advanced fast-jet training, helping student pilots develop the skills, confidence and experience required for the next stage of their flying careers.
Advanced Technology
One of the defining features of the Texan T1 is its advanced cockpit environment. The aircraft is equipped with a Heads-Up Display (HUD), ejection seats and a pressurised cockpit, helping to combine modern technology with a practical and capable design.
The Texan is also certified for manoeuvres between -3.5 and 7 G, demonstrating the performance and versatility that have contributed to its reputation as a leading training aircraft.
Proven Performance
The Texan's success lies in the balance it achieves between performance and safety. These qualities have helped establish it as one of the world's most proven training aircraft and a key part of modern military aviation.
From its powerful turboprop engine to its advanced avionics, every aspect of the aircraft has been developed to deliver a dependable and highly capable flying platform.
