Last week, Affinity Flying Services welcomed Llinos Medi, Plaid Cymru MP for Ynys Môn, and Liz Saville-Roberts, Plaid Cymru MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd, to our site in Holyhead for a meaningful discussion about our operations, our people, and our role in the local community.
The visit included conversations with members of our team, including Managing Director Iain Chalmers, Business Director Alex Davison, Chief Engineer Mark Chard, and Aircraft Maintenance Manager Philip Palmer. Together, they shared insights into the value Affinity brings as an SME based on the island of Anglesey, delivering advanced aircraft solutions, ongoing maintenance, and trusted airworthiness management.
During the visit, the MPs also had the opportunity to speak with Jake, one of our team members whose journey reflects our commitment to education and development. Jake originally joined Affinity for work experience while studying at college. He is now employed part-time while continuing his studies, with the aim of transitioning into a full-time role once his education is complete. His story is a testament to how we support individuals in gaining real-world experience alongside formal learning.
“Education and development are central to how we operate,” said Alex Davison, Business Director. “Whether it’s supporting our employees with further learning or engaging with young people in the community, we’re focused on helping individuals build meaningful careers and strengthening the future of aerospace in Wales.”
This engagement followed an earlier meeting in Holyhead between Llinos Medi, Iain Chalmers, and Alex Davison, where the focus was on Affinity’s operations and our ongoing contribution to the region. That meeting also highlighted our sustained commitment to education and youth engagement, and our efforts to inspire future generations through meaningful career pathways.
We are proud to play an active role in Wales’ economic and skills development and remain committed to fostering opportunity, innovation, and collaboration across the region.
