Shaping the Future: Affinity Engages with Government to Highlight SME Challenges and Contributions in Aviation and Defence

Affinity is proud to be the voice of SMEs within the UK aviation and defence sectors.

This month, Affinity met with government officials in two key meetings to address challenges in the aviation and defence sectors and highlight the important contributions of SMEs like Affinity.

At the Department for Transport (DfT) in London, Iain Chalmers, Managing Director of Affinity, and Ed Cash, Head of Compliance, discussed the challenges facing UK aviation businesses, particularly the impact of current and future regulations on SMEs, as well as the importance of enabling cost-effective, high-quality services for customers. These discussions are vital for ensuring that SMEs continue to play a key role in driving innovation and supporting the broader aviation sector.

This December, Iain Chalmers also met with Ian Roome MP, a member of the House of Commons Defence Committee, to discuss the vital role SMEs like Affinity play in supporting the UK’s aerospace and defence industries. The discussion also focused on Affinity’s ongoing efforts to nurture new talent, promote STEM careers, and contribute to innovation and skills development.

By engaging with key government stakeholders, Affinity continues to advocate for SMEs in aviation and defence, ensuring that their challenges, contributions, and growth potential are recognised at the highest levels.
