Last month, Mary Faver, our Training Officer visited The Air & Space Institute at Newark College to talk with Engineering students about our business operations and capabilities.
The Air and Space Institute is a unique opportunity for school leavers to train for pilot, engineer and ground-crew roles in the air and space sector. With Affinity having a variety of career prospects in maintenance, operations, and business services, it was a great opportunity to talk with students who are currently studying aviation and engineering courses and answer any questions they had.
At the end of May, the students from year 1 headed over to our Affinity site in Cranwell for a tour of our facilities, to see our teams in action and what a day is like in the life of an various functions across the business. This visit followed our initial visit at Newark College earlier this month, where we spoke with students on how Affinity plays a key part in the UK Military Flying Training System.
These keen and enthusiastic students took part in tours of our Operations departments, including AEA, Transport and Flight Ops. Then they took a look at a Phenom and Prefect aircraft whilst talking with several of our skilled maintenance team. The students are currently in Year 1 and studying a wide range of aviation topics. Having the opportunity to visit us allowed them to see up close, how a business which has a multitude of functions integrate together to reach one goal; to supply, support and maintain safe and airworthy platforms.
Working with ASI Newark will allow us to help guide and share our knowledge with the next generation of aviation professionals. It is allowing us to offer work experience, placements and visits in the future.
